Indexing Rules
Capitalization The first letter of main heading is capitalized. Proper nouns, names,
and places are capitalized. Subheadings are not capitalized unless it is a proper noun, name, or place.
Corporate names Corporate names are given in direct order in their fullness with the
commonly known acronym given in parentheses. A see reference is made from the acronym.
Entries Main headings and subheadings are hyperlinks. If only one image is present, the
main heading itself is the hyperlink. If more than one image for a heading or subheading is present, it is followed by the date of the photograph, which serves as the hyperlink. All images open in a new window.
Personal names Personal names have been indexed for subjects that are works of art.
References See references have been made to the proper main heading relative to this index.
When appropriate, see also references have been made for photographs that have more than one subject or place
and are provided as hyperlinks.
